Is the mind a hindrance to spirituality of ‘no-mind’ consciousness?

Moral dilemmas of body versus spirit and the physical versus spiritual have been commonly experienced by many of us at some point of our life. Religions and spiritual traditions often preach specific ways of living all different from each other. While it is good to respect every religion and their unique belief systems, it is even better to look within and find what is right for us at any point of time on our spiritual journey.

Many of you might have learnt that physical body is like a cage and we are here to attain freedom or liberation from physical existence, reincarnation and karmic cycles of life and death. Life is all about suffering according to those who believe in somehow escaping this physical world for a better ‘spiritual’ reality. In truth we need to be happy to be alive, there are plenty of things to be grateful for and to enjoy in our physical existence and it is perfectly alright to take incarnation. We are all seeing, breathing, experiencing on behalf of the divine self. Every experience of life is dedicated to the divine self which is our real truth. The divine wishes to have a physical experience through us and therefore our physical life is as much divine as our spiritual existence and as much worthy of celebration provided we are aware that every physical person or thing is all an aspect of our divine self being manifest on earth.

We are spirits who have taken a physical form. Our spiritual body has condensed into a physical form through the power of our thoughts, emotions and actions all collectively being our karma. Through positive thoughts, emotions and behaviors we create a positive physical experience for ourselves. There is absolutely no need to fear physical experience or try to escape it. The purpose of spiritual growth is to manifest our divine perfection on this earth. It’s a magical truth – As Above So Below! It is tempting to escape physical life and dissolve into a spiritual vacuum of ‘liberation’, it is more meaningful however, to project from our divine spiritual state into the worldly plane to heal, improve and perfect our reality until we mirror our divine perfection into our outer world. No matter how perfect and wonderful our inner truth is, it stays neglected just keep it within ourselves and do not allow it to seep into the outer world and create beauty, love and happiness all around. So if you are closing your eyes to meditate please do open them and radiate the power and peace around yourself as well.  That indeed is the way of the wise witch/ wizard.

Meditation is all about going within our-self, from outer to inner reality, from mind to ‘no mind’ state. For a witch or wizard the mind is not something you wish to shut down and leave for a higher ‘no mind’ experience for good. The no mind state of meditation helps you be aware and detached so that you can experience your true self. You can then once again travel into the mental plane so as to create and manifest the universe with the power of your mind and thoughts. The spirit within will give energy to your thoughts, your will, your emotions and your behaviors so that you live a truly spiritual life while remaining in physical form.

In the first stage of your spiritual evolution you will go within, learn the inner truth, meditate and witness your inner divine self. This part of your spiritual journey entails that you detach from the outer physical experiences, mental thoughts, emotions, feelings or desires so that you can be truly still. Asceticism or monkhood with various austerities and self discipline is preferable for this part of your journey. Without this you will continue to be engaged with the outer world and will find no time to go within. You must in this first stage of your spiritual journey be prepared to be ‘the hermit’. You are learning about your own inner self that was neglected during all the centuries of materialism. You are getting enlightened. This is the Meditative part of your journey when you go from outside to inside.

The second stage of your spiritual journey begins after you attain this unity with your inner divine self. From here on you will think divine thoughts, feel divine emotions, your will be one with the divine  will, you are a living incarnate divine being teaching, sharing and enlightening others and at the same time healing, creating and manifesting divinity on earth. This is the Magickal part when you go from inside to outside.

As With-in so With-out… As Above so Below!

Your physical existence is no longer a burden for earth or your-self.

You can be not only aware but also alive fully as a divine being while remaining in physical form on earth, living, breathing and creating the divine will in every moment.

Every experience you have then has a divine meaning to it. You will find meaning in every small flutter of a wing, tweeting of a bird, rustle of a leaf – which is the essence of divination. Messages are found in everything around, not just in the stars, cards or teacups.

Your words are all powerful tools of manifestation, so are your thoughts, emotions and desires. You will choose them all wisely. You are no longer a passive experience gatherer but an active divine creator. You are a healer – your mind directly affects your physical body and all your situations. You can do magick and spells with every breath, every thought, every word and every object.

Your sexuality is nothing to fear. No longer does it take you away from your spiritual path, because you are now allowing your spirit to act and interact with the universe, not just going within but also experiencing the universe as a divine manifestation of the spirit within. As your sexuality is divine you are much more responsible with your sexual self and less interested in polygamous or meaningless relationships and prefer to have a healthy and committed monogamous romance with someone who is compatible energetically. Homosexual or heterosexual, transsexual or transgender, in any way you express your sexuality there is no sin as long as you Harm None including yourself. You may also choose to have one or two healthy off-springs so that you can provide them due attention and love, including adopted children who are treated at par with your biological children. You will love to include animals, plants and crystals in your family and treat them with as much love as your other family members.  

You may no longer feel guilty of consuming food as long as you are aware of the sacredness in every object you are consuming. You will see and sense the life force flowing through everything. You soon realize that everything you consume is meaningful and is affecting you and your life. Just like you add ingredients and herbs to your spell for specific effects, your foods also create a constant change, known or unknown to you. While some induce consciousness, some attract abundance and health, others induce lethargy, dullness and harmful addictions. To love yourself in totality and to create health and beauty is a noble and positive purpose fulfilled by what we eat among all other things we do.

There is absolutely no need to feel very guilty if you are non-vegetarian for there are plenty of animals who are purely non-vegetarian such as cats, big or small and it is absolutely a part of nature’s plan to have this type of a healthy balance between herbivores and carnivores. As regards ‘harm’, both plants and animals have feelings and sensations and if killing an animal is an act of harm so is killing or mutilating a plant. However the meaning of harm is better understood with the idea of ‘intention’. As long as your intention was not to cause harm to the plant or animal that you were consuming it is not really a harmful act as far as karma is concerned.

Eating is less about taste and more about whether the food is healthy or unhealthy. To be really healthy food must be cooked as little as possible or preferably eaten raw. Naturally ripe fruits are the best choice while non-vegetarian items being less healthy and difficult to consume as raw could come last on your list. After all most of us as modern humans no longer have those sharp canine teeth or wild hunting instincts as some other creatures of nature do.

Perhaps consuming of ripe fruits is the best of all food habits compared with having leaves, stems, roots or animal meats. Plants give us the fruits naturally as they fall when ripe and this includes many vegetables which are technically fruits. As we consume the ripened pulp we can scatter the seeds or plant them into earth thereby helping propagate the plant. In case your land is not as fertile or wintry and consuming of only fruits and fruity vegetables is not quite easy for everyone, other herbs, plants and animal meats would be the alternative as long as they are fresh and grown, treated and cooked in a healthy manner.

However if you regularly meditate you might find that sattvik foods appeal to you – and you will understand the meaning of sattvik as healthy foods which are natural, pure and fresh organic food items consumed with awareness of their meaning and impact. Adding of too much salts, sugars, flavors, spices is rather unnecessary in a sattvik diet as you will begin to enjoy the original and natural flavors. Spiritual beings are much more sensitive and feel taste much more strongly than those who are engrossed in material existence. The less you think and the more you spend time in inner silence, the more satisfied you will be with your natural and raw fruity diet. You will enjoy raw and fresh food which is coarse or whole and not finely chopped, ground, juiced or mashed. You may add mild salt or sugar and healthy herbs such as sage and rosemary in your food which could be lightly steamed or saute at the most so that the vitamins and minerals in them are not lost due to boiling or cooking. Plenty of plain water will replace your needs for alcohol, caffeine or carbonated beverages.

Life is your ritual. Food is your offering. Your body your temple….You are a Divine God(dess).

Are you being tempted by the Devil if you choose wealth as a goal?

Shall we all abandon all wealth and monetary goals to simply focus on meditation, healing  and inner-work?

Should all spiritual work be charitable in nature?

Will the practice of spirituality interfere with your worldly success or career path?

Can you really have wealth while being spiritual?

Is it safe for you to switch over to a spiritual career now, or should you keep doing your regular job which pays your bills so far?

Is it bad to desire wealth, happiness, beauty and love when there is so much poverty, unhappiness and misery in the world?

These are some of the questions that you may have asked at some point of time. It’s almost like a part of you is in the material realm while a part of you aspires to rise above and perhaps even does at times. With one foot on earth and one in the sea, there is a need to find some balance…. some way to integrate…. to attain peace within yourself.

So let me focus on those of you who have been riddled with these issues and questions so far and help you choose what is right for you.

Like the characters called Agents in The Matrix (movie) there are things that might have blocked you from total spiritual awareness. These are not really enemies but those gatekeepers who are there to test you and your faith in yourself. Once you are ready you can not only dodge their bullets, you will find that you do not even ‘need to’. These agents are your own inner blocks of ignorance or fears and none will remain if you are self aware.

Ignorance is a block to spirituality. If you are aware of spiritual truth you will realise that all that is material is indeed connected to and in-fact created by the spiritual. It is a bondage to the illusion of materialism and not material life itself that is your blockage. You falsely believed that material world is unchangeable and you have no power over it. This was your blockage. You believed falsely that you were a victim. You believed falsely that because circumstances and situations in your childhood or past lives were limited or limiting to you. You had lacks, poverty, helplessness and slavery so far and believed them to be your blocks, your limitations – they were not. Your circumstances and situations can no longer be blamed for your bitterness, anger or sorrow. You are and always were in-charge of your destiny, with absolute and total control over any situation or circumstance. You just did not KNOW that till now.

With the awareness that you are the creator of your material life, you can create a beautiful life. Surround yourself with those material things that link you back with the spiritual. Instead of showing off brands that fulfil your ego or status needs you will have loving and empowering objects full of magick and power in your homes and offices. You will go for high energy, good vibration foods, clothing, décor, jewellery – not just for taste or thrill or showing off or looking good, but because of the way they reconnect you to the inner truth and help you stay aware and joyful. Fresh, organic and healthy foods, comfortable, ethical and magickal clothing, magickal crystals, meaningful décor or art, feng shui and magickal arefacts, sacred amulets and talismans can all remind you that material and spiritual life are now being integrated in your quest for oneness.

The Devil is nothing but ignorance of inner spirit. When you are without meditation, without inner silence, it is easy to believe that the outer physical world is all there is. When you look within, you discover that the God or Goddess or Universe is truly inside you and everyone ‘else’ is actually part of the inner self or Spirit which is truly one being manifest as all of us – both things and people around. The Devil is the temptation to stay in the illusion of physical reality.

If Wealth be you only goal ever in life then yes you are in the clutches of the Devil and have no idea what you are truly here for on earth. In you quest for wealth you may go after things that harm your soul, reduce your inner power and make you more and more vulnerable to unhappiness. Drugs, smoking, alcohol, sadism, self destructive behaviours, unethical ways of earning or living, unhealthy sexuality, abusive relationships, harmful behaviours, terrorism, religious fundamentalism, oppression and suppression of those who mean no harm are some of the extreme manifestations of ignorance or Devil.

There is no need to be angry or upset when you see someone earning well or being wealthy. Stop thinking that people who ask for a nice sum of money in return of products or services are fleecing others. Every time you pay someone for some product or service do it with joy and thank the person who is giving you that product or service for helping you and serving the divine self. Do not complain, crib or bargain as this reduces the value of what you are trying to have. You will be always be blessed with multiple times greater wealth than the amount that you are parting with because material life is a creation of the spirit and there is infinite wealth that can be yours at any point of time. Do not feel limited and give with all your heart to those who are giving you something of value in return. Do not say that you cannot afford something you want or do not have the money for it. When you imagine you have more than enough to give you will indeed draw to yourself more than enough provided you do feel deserving of that which you are trying to have.

True wealth is inner wealth and with this outer wealth can be created easily with the power of positive karma (inner and outer work). However for those who are born with a good amount of material wealth but lack spiritual awareness, outer wealth depletes too and they are reduced to beggars eventually. It is a positive and abundant state of consciousness therefore that one must acquire instead of going after outer wealth alone.

Wealth can be created through any positive work, inner as well as outer. It need not be only through the practice of spirituality as a full time career.

You are on the right path if you choose your goal to be your true life purpose – seeing your life purpose as something that gives you inner joy and helps you help the divine self in its expression. Wealth will be just one tool to help you grow and multiply your efforts to create something good on earth. This does not mean that all of us should only choose to be spiritual healers for career. You may be an accountant who chooses to help earth by helping people work with clear financial plans and honesty, thereby doing a lot of good to earth. You may choose to be an air hostess who helps travellers feel safe and well looked after and therefore does a lot of good on earth. You may be a millionaire businessman giving employment and bringing to consumers products and services that make life easier and happier for the world and definitely you too are doing a lot of good on earth. Being in a meditative state helps you perform any of your tasks better and more purposefully. You can be completely present in your job or business on a day to day basis as you serve your inner god or goddess through your outer work as well as inner work.

We are always serving the divine as all of us are parts of the great divine self. Anything we do to help each other is a divine work. The moment you gain awareness about how your being here is part of the universe’s good and divine self you will then earn and create wealth without guilt. Wealth can therefore be your goal but not the ultimate goal, only a way in which you can live better and work better for the benefit of our world.

If you are serving other beings of nature (not just humankind) you will still be rewarded with true wealth and happiness in return for nature always gives us magickal powers, support, love and joy as rewards for taking care of its children. By working for clean environment, green trees and healthy animals, we are creating a healthy world and a happy world to enjoy. There is no point in having a lot of bank balance and real estate if there is no fresh air to breathe in, if you cannot take a walk in a beautiful forest or garden from time to time, if you cannot hear the chirping of birds, the rustling leaves, the murmuring waters, play with cats, marvel at beasts and befriend a familiar.

Spiritual work need not always be charitable. Some spiritual workers might not feel comfortable asking for charity and might want to be fair and clear in their dealings of all giving and receiving plus prefer to pay their full taxes as well.  

There is no need to be afraid while making a switch from your mundane jobs to a spiritual healing career in case you are truly ready to perform this task on earth. If there is any fear of whether you will be able to sustain yourself or pay your bills, your fears are truly baseless. You need to check whether you are truly ready yet for it is necessary to be self realised and at least healed at a basic level before you try to teach or heal others.

You can have wealth while being spiritual. It’s just that usually spiritual people do not feel the need to accumulate or hoard wealth. They are simply not very insecure and truly less needy. The universe is our bank, the universe always has infinite resources and the universe is within. When we need something and only if we need it, we surely manifest it. We feel little or no need to show off wealth or to acquire more than required material possessions as we are happy to have what feels right. We do not need to have a huge bank balance to save for a rainy day as we are always safe and secure from within and we simply will not manifest a ‘rainy day’ unless it is raining happiness, love and abundance.

We feel glad to see others happy, well to do, honest, loving, fulfilled, beautiful and healthy as we realise that all are parts and aspects of our own inner divine self. If there are any signs of poverty, misery or sorrow in the world, it is just a sign that we need to create more awareness and spread spiritual truth around for this is the only way to liberate and help the world.

Everything that is material or physical flows from the spiritual source. Our deep rooted beliefs, especially those propagated through religious conditioning are ultimately responsible for the way females are treated in society. No amount of legal stringency can help women unless our inner belief systems are examined and changed. Religion has the maximum impact on our inner belief system as for those who believe, the word of ‘God’ or their spiritual guru is of more importance than anything else.

In every religion that has been so far majorly popular on earth, females have had a much more understated role than male. The leaders of leading world religions are predominantly men. The chief religious books always describe God as He and Father. In India babas and swamis who fashion themselves to be spiritual leaders are mostly men. Even if a female is a hindu spiritual leader she is respected as Ma or mother, but the word God has still referred to the ‘father’ or He in principle for most people. It is the man who occupies prominent positions in Churches or Mosques or Gurdwaras or Temples. The female form if worshiped in temples has mostly been confined to goddess worship with the ultimate or superior One God or ‘God of all things’ being referred to in common language as male, He, Father and centuries of social conditioning has strengthened this inequality. We rarely recognize how deep rooted this social conditioning is and how it really affects the way females are treated all over the world but it is indeed a time to examine our basic and fundamental belief systems.

It has always baffled me why women are still followers of religious faiths that reduce their prominence and treat females as mere reproductive mothers and lower in rank to the male. From ‘burquas’ to ‘ghoonghat’ women have been conditioned to believe that their femininity is somehow embarrassing and that they need to hide their beautiful bodies if they want any respect in society. Bare chested men roam around fearlessly whereas women in certain sections of society are afraid to show even their face, leave alone legs, arms or cleavage.

Are most of our religions not responsible for this absolute inequality? Yet when a woman is brutally gangraped there are spiritual babas in India who comment that it must be the female’s fault and she should have pleaded to the rapists. This is one example of how limited our religions and spiritual traditions can be and how much transformation is needed right from the top.

What is rape after-all – but a physical assault intended to degrade or humiliate a female. As long as sex will be taboo and female will be regarded as ‘disrespectful’ if raped, men will dominate over women and crimes against women including rape will continue year after year in-spite of laws and modernization in the outer world. Female sexuality has to come our the the confines of male dominance. A woman’s sexuality is not unholy or un-sacred. It is absolutely normal. Her body is as normal as a male body and revealing her body can never be a sin as long as men can do so without any shame. Raping a female can never actually take away her dignity as it is the criminals who committed such acts who should be ashamed as they overpowered someone with their physical might and inflicted physical injury on the victim against her will. Why are females made to feel ashamed or petrified of ‘losing their respect’ in the form of rape, molestation, eve teasing, sexual abuse…A man who abuses a woman should be afraid of losing respect. Why the social stigma about female sexuality?

Why cannot we accept a goddess as a bold beautiful woman who is sexually attractive – such as Aphrodite who was worshiped in the past – once again? Why has the female divinity been reduced to just the mother form of female. Is a woman respectable only as a mother and never as a ‘woman’.

Why not accept women as spiritual leaders again – I am talking about witches – who once were held in high esteem – as high priestesses who lead others, heal others, teach others.

Why not refer to the ultimate God as Goddess and She and Maiden, Mother, Crone as Female?

Why not choose Wicca as your faith and be free of medieval mindsets? We all always have a choice.

Our society will have truly transformed when not just our outer but our inner world will change for the better.

I am often asked to ‘prophecise’ something for 2012. Being a Witch and also a Weather Witch who works with nature closely and having tried my hand at weather magick successfully several times to alter natural calamities…I can assure you that if all of us visualise a positive, peaceful and harmonious earth, a happy coexistance of humankind with the rest of nature, and give energy to this vision…it will be real and 2012 will be one the most peaceful and blessed year ever. So I am making this prophecy now in the form of a spell that came to me right now in the form of poetry.
Complications are history
All I have is simplicity
